Free Mobile App Allows Western Customers to Report Water Waste

“Nothing is more frustrating for our customers who are working hard to save water than to see someone else wasting water in the middle of this serious drought,” said Western Municipal Water District’s Community Affairs Director Michele McKinney Underwood.

Western’s customers can now quickly and easily download the free iEfficient app to report leaks and water waste as well as access water-efficiency information straight from their mobile phone. The iEfficient mobile app helps families and businesses end water waste by reporting anything from broken sprinklers to excess watering throughout the Inland Empire.

Once the app is downloaded, customers can include photos and videos with their report. Locations are also geotagged, so customers don’t even need to type in an address. Additionally, customers can browse the app for articles about the drought, efficiency tips and more.

The app is available for Apple devices in in the Apple App Store and Android devices in Google Play, search “iEfficient.” Links to the app stores can also be accessed at

“We’re really looking to empower our customers to work together as a community and to be part of a new water ethic to sustain California,” said McKinney Underwood. “The more avenues they have to use water wisely and educate others on using water wisely, the more we can all save together during the drought, especially when the state has recently requested an additional 32 percent reduction in Western’s water use.”

iEfficient is a collaborative water efficiency campaign developed by water agencies throughout the Inland Empire.
